With this new recognition Hotel Jardín Tecina now has five major awards this year, TUI Holly, Hotelo, Neckermann Primo, Travelife and TUI Umwelt Champion.

The awards Umwelt Champion are granted every year by the German tour operator TUI and only are recognized based on their environmental management, the 100 best international stablishments famous in energy management, social and ecological commitment, communication and staff training.

German customers are who awarded the prize.

Since 1996, TUI Deutschland provides its clients a questionnaire that includes the question, "How do you assess the measures introduced by the hotel where you spent your holiday to reduce their environmental impact?"

In 2004, TUI AG for the first time changed the evaluation method to incorporate a complex scoring system, which, apart from customer assessment takes into account other factors such as environmental certification, management of energy, water and waste.
