Wines of La Gomera

The wines of La Gomera conquer for their extraordinary aroma and flavour, with volcanic notes that remain on the palate and awaken the senses.

The history of Gomera vitiviniculture begins in the fifteenth century, when the first strains were introduced on the island, which brought varieties from different places, so today La Gomera has a rich heritage of varieties.

The Denomination of Origin La Gomera was created in 2003. La Gomera is an island traditionally producing young white wines, but in recent years the cultivation of red grapes has proliferated, giving rise to young wines of excellent qualities and future. In general, both red and white wines are soft, aromatic and balanced in the mouth.

The most representative variety of the island is the forastera blanca, which adapts perfectly to the orography and climate of La Gomera, and has excellent aromatic potential. It provides a high acidity that is perfectly balanced with the other characteristics of local wines. Among the white varieties, the Listán Blanco, the Malvasía and the Marmajuelo also stand out. The red are the Listan Negro, Negramoll, Castellana y Tintilla.

At Hotel Jardín Tecina we promote the consumption of local products and in our restaurants you can try a selection of wines from D.O. La Gomera, please ask us, we will be happy to advise you.
